Re: [bolger] Re: Aircraft Carriers and Flying boats
The way to get this done is as a project of the
Canadian Navy. This is as much carrier as they can
afford, and there was that guy in Winnipeg who had the
stategy of equiping every canadian soldier with an
ultralight. Seems as though the two ideas would go
nicely together.
I did design a flying boat hull for a MiniMAX once, I
dubbed it WaveMax. I had an agreement with the
company. The problem was that it became apparent that
it wasn't something we could collaborate on - their
adding wings to my flying boat hull. It required that
we both be able to handle both parts of the project,
which for myself, I couldn't. It was a nice idea, at
least until the national air carrier flew me into a
tree, and banished all thoughts of aircraft
construction from my mind.

The best way to find used books is to use a meta site like
www.addall.com/used orhttp://bookradar.comThese will search many
book vendor sites at once, including ABE. half.com is worth a try
also. ABE will let you post a want. www.bestbookbuys.com is great
for finding the best price on still-in-print or recently remaindered
books.

The rarest book I think is his novel Schorpioen, I can only guess
that the number of copies that exist are in the hundreds. I have
been looking for years on the WWW used book listings and have never
seen a copy for sale.

SCHORPIOEN
a NOVEL by
Philip C. Bolger
You're on your first trip to Africa. Your work for the day has gone
satisfactorily. Now the evening is yours. One of your personal goals
of this trip has been to go to the races, and bet as heavily as you
dare.., races of sailing vessel, not horses or dogs. And your fervent
hope is that your bet will be large enough so you'll be chosen to
sail aboard the boat you've backed.
They're big vessels.. .each is twice as long, and eight times the
displacement of a 12 Meter boat.. .yet they are raced like dinghies.
The master of each vessel is a man, but the boat-steerer/tactician is
a woman he has purchased for the purpose!
You've heard all your life about this despicable practice in the
United Provinces of Africa of buying and selling women. But now that
you've seen it first hand, you've not so sure it's all so dastardly.
They consider women to be men's intellectual superiors. Their
purchase prices, based on this, establish them as valuable
possessions, worthy of the most careful handling. Winning
boatsteerers are especially prized.
Phil Bolger spins this yarn of sailing ships in a very plausible
parallel universe, little changed from our own, with nautical
accuracy and authority...and some interesting politics and philosophy.
Softbound, 611x9", 208 pages, $12.95, postpaid, Mass, residents add
$.65 sales tax, from

Hi Peter,
Yes, the carrier is my ultimate dream. Now all I have to do is dream
up a big pile of gold and a stack of spare time to make her with. I
posted Phil's comments on her at my site www.brucesboats.com at the
bottom of th Civilian Carrier page. She would certainly get noticed
in any port and would fit in all North America's canals.
Phil also did a cartoon of a new layout for "Dakota" for me. Scan is
posted to Bolger2.
Have a Happy Holiday and don't forget to post scans of your new
project.
