Your rig idea looks ok in concept, but I would worry about balance. The CE
of your proposed rig is a lot further forward than the original balanced
lug. When I had the boat, I spent some time tuning it to get a little
weather helm from it's initial very neutral balance. That entailed moving
the CE aft. Your CE is way far forward of where it was originally.
