Just remebered: you can home build these, at least some have down here,
I'm sure. Sorry, definitely off-Bolger topic.

considered adding a "deck" to the area between the two hulls, forward
of the bulkhead at the front of the cockpit. Not a permanent one, but
one that either was removeable or folded flat against that bulkhead.
The "deck" would only be for use while stopped or anchored. Just a
little
more space to loll around on. I'm working on writing PB&F about this,
and
moving the controls to the center. As they are now, it appears that one
sits facing to starboard, then twists to the left to "drive". My back
is
getting to old to do that!!!

Tim,
Why not commission a good looking scow (!) with some curve and flare in
the side so the sheer comes from a straight edge, and build a minimal
straight-sided house with an easy radius on the top (or slot top).
Bottom of the scow is the interior deck. Add a nice cockpit aft with
provision for a canvas cover that can be stretched out over the hatch
-- 9.9 4-stroke on the transom with a sound isolation cover (like
Stambaugh's power skiffs) -- kind of a cross between a motor sampan and
an American shanty boat. With some simple boat carpentry you can have
a boat that is both, more seaworthy (lakeworthy) since it will sit much
lower in the water than the pontoon boat, and more visibly pleasing.

I should have mentioned that only reason I'd buy a pontoon is that it is the one type of boat my bride would approve the purchase of. As much as I want one, owning a big sailboat around here doesn't make much sense. The lakes are so small and narrow, the winds to fluky, and too much powerboat traffic makes sailing very difficult much of the time.
I've spent a lot of time in pontoons and like them very much. The inland reservoirs near me are ideal places for this type of craft. The rough water performance is of no consequence since we don't get much rough weather here. A big wave is only one foot high! Except for boat wakes, that is.
Having nearly been killed in an outboard skiff accident about 15 years ago, I have a healty respect for boating safety. The problems really occur when people treat power boats like cars. It was in my case. Now, I know better.
As for building one, nah! I'd rather build something a lot more attractive.
