Galvanised and inexpensive

We used to use telephone pole support cable. At the time it cost .08
per foot versus $1 a foot for s/s. The support cable was 1x7 and
quarter inch. It is very hard to cut with a hacksaw and stretches a
bit. I live in Hawaii where rust never takes a holiday, and I've yet
to see a rusty support cable on a power pole.
Most of the wood used in construction here is treated, and is
labeled: "For Hawaii use only ", so it's meant to last. It's also of
good quality compared to the treated wood we used for bottom plates
on the mainland. Has anyone used 5200 or another adhesive with
success to bond treated wood? I tried PL and it only lasted a couple
years on a cover for my truck. I envision a 29' Macnaughton Dory of
all treated wood that gets a new coat of the green stuff every year
and no paint on the exterior at all. I remember seeing Peter Fonda's
boat, Tatoush (sp) in L.A. Harbor years ago, and the house looked
like treated wood and looked pretty good. Regarding the glue to use,
I wouldn't want to wake up at sea swimming some night. Don Peters.
