[bolger] Re: Spelling

Sorry for adding to the confusion. It occured to me right after posting that "Jock" was not a good example, esp. since I had just said that I sorta rhymed "Jochems" with "scotch-ems" (soft on the "t" sound"). I only meant that I had evidently wrongly been using the "J" sound as in "Jock". But now you've raised so many doutbts in my mind that I think I'll just call it the "Family Schooner" while still forcing friends to engage the plans with me.

O as in Jock and ch as in "Ach Du lieber Augustin" or as in Chaim Potok, Achtung, Bach, Dachau (no such thing in English...)

I'm still confused.  I got the J now, but what about the O and the CH?

Is it "Yokums" or  "Yotchums" and is the "o" pronounced  hard like
"yokel" or soft like in "jock"?

A Dutch name could go either way at each of these.

Silly me! Of course one wonder about the "J" part of Jochems. And I've been saying it like "Jock". Now I'll have to track down all my friends and start all over.

It's a soft g as in Genoa and general, and like the j in juniper and
junior.

While we're on the subject, how is Jochems pronounced?
