Re: Le Cabotin page wew

"Bob Swore!" -- as the Englishman said for 'Good night,' when he
first learnt French, and thought it so like English. 'Bob swore,' my
ducks!" Miss Mowcher from Charles Dickens' "David Copperfield" -- I
couldn't resist this little gem. ;-)

Perhaps.....it is sometimes hilarious the way that machines translate!
Example: when I wrote "salut" it can either mean hello or good-
bye, depending on which way you're going. The machine failed to
recognize I was terminating my note.
I should give Jean a call(we live only a few kilos apart) and offer
to translate the stuff for him.
Ciao,
Peter

This sounds like a job for.......multi-lingual man!
Arrrr, c'est jamais trop tard pour apprendre une autre langue!
Salut,
Pierre
I especially liked the, "Space of immense life" from the
first one. Anyway, here's the others.

To be able to conclude such a project it is necessary to
maximize the production of
parts at the house.

Well on that requires the comprehension of all.

All the partitions were manufactured at the house.

To find a place

favourable with

construction is a task

much more difficult

than it does not appear
to with it.

The only possible place at an accessible price being has 45
mn of car, but which
beautiful place...

To cut all the lengths of structural wood necessary (white
ash), to stick them (epoxy charged

with silica) to have some 12 meters lengths.

On this photograph one sees a trick which avoids the
expenditure of several greenhouses. It is

enough to buy a length of PVC pipes, to cut lengths of 3
inches of them and to split them.

Much saved money.

Joining of the panels of the bottom,

(contreplaquâ© of mâ©ranti BS1088) jointâ©s

into 12 per 1

The assembled panels are coated

with 2 layers of epoxy before the

assembly.

The first alignments. The lower

parts of the partitions are

assembled to back. And
distanciâ©es according to plans'.

The

first

part

of

the

broadsides

is

in

place.

Installation and

joining of bilges

#3

Pose first layer of the hull

Joining o
fthe

second
layer.

Stage very stressing...

Pose

fibre

of
verre(11oz.). One notes the crossing of the joints,

as well as
bidirectional fibre of bilges.

Pose steel plates which were cut, and folded in factory.
They are already sanded with the jet and are covered with an
epoxy finish. Total
weight: 3,200 lbs.

Rings of handling were welded in factory. The plates and the
joints are insulated by sealing 3m5200.
72 bolts retain the whole bathed of sealing.

Of

course

should

be

removed

all

the rings.

To clean and give a last surfacer.

Here is the finished hull, misses only painting.

One can see that the parts being used for the reversal are already
installed.
Won't load on my version 6 internet explorer.
Reference files not in in the directory pointed to?

This is what I quickly got for Gaby's 1st page:

The Show-off

Construction d`un Advance Sharpie AS39
according to the plans of Phil C Bolger

The choice of a boat being always a compromise, this model
appeared ideal to us considering his simplicity of
construction as an amateur,
maximizing the use of plywood, its weak draught (33cm), its
swivelling mast facilitating the passage of the bridges, its
space of immense
life (4 parts, whose office doubles and a double bed)

A major change was however brought: interior lead ballast at
summer changed for a thickness of steel under the hull,
supporting the
strandings.
Well on, it is necessary to appreciate the square side of
the model

Specifications:

Overall length: 11.5m

Maximum beam: 2.4m

Draught: 33m

Displacement: 5.2 tons

Aerofoils: Fore-and-aft 41m 2

Asymmetrical Spi: 20m 2
