Re: [bolger] Le Cabotin page web

Jean,

Your boat deserves the moniker. The model alone is awe inspiring.
I don't know how much weight in ballast the AS 39 was
planned to have originally. Is your steel plate close?

For those who doodled boats in French class instead of listening to
Madame Laframboise,Jean(John) has indeed installed a steel plate
outside the hull bottom. The whole plate weighs 3200lbs and was
cut, bent and primed with epoxy before setting the whole thing down in
a bed of 3M5200.The plate is secured to the plywood hull with 72
through bolts, also liberally bedded in 3M5200.Not only does this
serve in the total ballast equation but should make for a remarkably
bullet-proof bottom.......just the stuff for shallow water sailing
further south,no?
I too find the pictures great(they all show up for me) and look
forward to seeing more of Jeans pictures once progress resumes this
spring!
Sincerely,
Peter Lenihan, saved my doodling for later in life at work, from the
shores of la fleuve St.Laurent.......

I guess it's time to find my high school french books. Two years of
french in high school is just not enough.

Great pics. Is that a giant metal skid plate?
