[bolger] Tanton question

Hi folks, just a thought: perhaps Tanton was asked to do the different rig
shown, and the hull, slightly modified as it was, didn't get credited
properly? There
is no doubt that it is basically the same hull, though a little wider at the
stern, but not much, plus a little drop-board on the rudder.
There may be a story behind all this, so we should hear Tanton out, I
imagine.

As an aside, I remember buying a copy of some Trawler Yacht magazine
(Passagemaker?), and the boat on the cover was, to my eyes, definitely a Jay
Benford Florida Bay Coaster type. Yet it turned out to be another designer
who had most of the credit in the article. Just one little sentence early
on
mentioned Benford's boat as a starting point, then spoke of him no more. The
new designer had done a few modifications to the original, including hull
material, but nothing extreme. I was puzzled. The only link was Ruben Trane,
who has built Benford boats in the past of the same type, and also built
this one.
I don't know what Benford thought of this new boat, but it appeared to be
okay with him (or maybe not?). I still thought it odd, but it is evidently
not uncommon.

Tanton's design in question is alot closer to Bolger's, down to some fairly
minute details. Let's ask him what this is all about!
