Re: St. Valery

Wasn't that covered in Moneyboat a while back? Or am I confused? Oops,
excuse me, I meant Woodenboat.

Thanks. Once prompted, I was able to make out the tracing of the
tilted motor in the WB diagram. St. Valery is quite a complicated
little boat!

Purely as an intellectual exercise, I'm thinking of working out a St.
Valery-type arrangement for the Jesse Cooper hull.

Peter: I've posted a scan of the arrangement to the files section
of Bolger2 (see "st valery motor mount"). As you'll see, the motor
mount is attached to a bar that tilts up and back.

Peter: As I recall from the BDQ article on St. Valery, the boat's
motor mount and well are designed to tilt the motor backward (i.e.
with the prop end pointed toward the bow), rather than forward as is
usually the case.

Is anyone familiar with the St. Valery? I was looking at the article
that appeared a while back in WoodenBoat on it and the Jochems
schooner and I have a question about the ob motor well.

The text says the ob can be tilted clear of the water, but it is not
clear from the pictures and plans that this is so. Is there a sliding
panel in the transom, or does the whole motor lift vertically, or
does it really tilt in the volumn indicated, or does it not really
tilt? Can anyone clarify?
