Re: Micro Rigging
On my mizzen, I attached the clew to a swivel shackle, the tied the
shackle to the boom. To furl the sail, I roll it up on itself. The
swivel allows the boom to remain attached. To set the sail, I simply
untie the sail ties, the haul out the snotter. The sail just rolls
itself out. Kind of a poor man's roller furling. Cheap, and works great.

Yes,I use the original design for the pins. You"belay" by first
forming a loop in the end of your line just slightly larger then the
diameter of the boom. The idea is to have the loop on the inboard side
of the pins with the standing part running out over the tip of the
boom.To ensure that it remain there,I chose to use a small eyestrap
at the end of my booms.

No halyard for me,just tied it off as per plans.Stowing sail is
simple question of rolling it up on itself like a"pig-in-a-blanket".

Yes,topping lift on both mizzen and main.....keeps the spares up and
out of the way.....looks very nautical too!

I only reef my main, from the forward well,no downhaul. The procedure
is to simply lower the main to the first reef position, belay the
halyard, then tie in the reefs etc.......
Hope this helps!

Hi,
As some of you will know I have bought a micro. I have just started
looking at the rigging and have some questions.
1) The previous owner/builder obvious followed the plans on the
booms by putting in the pins and then chopped them off and replaced them
with straps and shackles. Does any one use the original design and how do
you 'belay' on to the pins.
2) Have any of you used a halyard on the Mizzen? Have any of you
used Phil's idea of just tying it to the mast?
3) Topping lifts, does anyone use on on the Mizzen?
4) Reefing, Any ideas on this, Does any one use a downhawl and do
reefing from the cockpit?
