Re: [bolger] Re: The full set . . . and the little trimaran

If you mean the 3 meter tri, also consider simmilar
boats by noted designers such as Kurt Hughes, and John
Marples.

Bill,
Are you talking about his, Bantam 16/20? If so, he has drawings and
he suggested that I build one after talking with him (through snail
mail) about what it was that I was interested in.
Rich
Some speculation about 'the full set' of Phil's 600 and odd designs (or is it over 700 now?).

Interestingly, Phil has mentioned of at least one of his designs (Otter II) that it has been superseded by a better one (his opinion, and we'd better respect that) - to wit, the Chebacco-20. I suspect that Phil would rather NOT include some of his earlier designs in his catalogue, if he believes you'd be better off buying a later, improved one. So - this would lead to hassle - for every 'superseded' design on the list, he'd have to explain to inquirers that he'd "rather not sell them that one, and won't they think about this other one instead?"

I applaud Phil for being so honest about this and can appreciate why he'd rather do commissioned designs than put together a problematic catalogue for sad people (including me) who collect such things.

Goes some way to explaining why we're unlikely ever to see a complete catalogue of designs for sale. Of course I'll eat my words if it turns out to be wrong.

Talking of Phil's designs - does anyone know if Phil ever worked up his little trimaran from BWAOM into a fully developed set of drawings?

Cheers,

Bill
