Re: Reefing Birdwatcher Sprit Mainsail
On my AF3, I just used plain old foot reefing without jiffy because
it isn't too slow and it is reliable. When reefed, the sail shape is
still perfect, so I can sill sail well to windward. Even though the
AF3 sail plans called for only one row of reef points, I added a
second row and am glad I did.

Thanks Pippo,
I quite like the jiffy system described. Seems to be the easiest to
set up and the best to work, because the sheet and the sprit more or
less remain in place. Also, one can browse down on the clew line by
pulling from the luff end of the sprit.
Hope that makes sense.
Bill.

Does anyone have experience of reefing a Birdwatcher sprit mainsail?
Is it better to use the luff cringle method, or to have a reefs ties
along the foot?
Which is the more efficient in terms of ease of reefing and set of
sail?
