Just been looking at my copy of Monk - Curlew would make a great little daysailer!

She's multi-chined and the twist in the bottom panels is small, so I don't think the ply conforming only to conic sections would be a big deal. The frontmost frame or two might need to bulge out a little to accommodate this, but there'd be nothing that thickened epoxy couldn't fill nicely.

Personally I'd be tempted to buy Plyboats (TM) or some similar CAD package and stick the dimensions in to get panel shapes for Curlew. You could then build it stitch and glue, or on frames as originally designed.
