Re: [bolger] Micro vs. Divorce

Pep, if you want to sail a Micro in the mediterranean, you will... (if you are veeery patient!)

I'm currently building one in Teià (16 km from Barcelona). The progress is slow but steady, and my
hull is now almost complete.

Regards

Francisco Ramírez, from Premià de Mar - Barcelona (Spain), not already sailing the Mediterranean,
even not the shores of the St. Lawrence...

Probably good advice. If it can sit where it is
for a while, and it isn't "eating" anything, why not
keep it.

Home-built boats don't fetch much money around the
midwest, and partially-built ones, even less.

Working on my boat tends to make me forget about
some of the more-screwed-up-facets of my life. I figure
it's cheaper than paying a "therapist."

Even if it is not for sale, would still like to see it
sometime. Only seen one Micro before.

And I do have the plans...

www.duckflatwoodenboats.com quote about AU$5500 (about
US$2750) to send a boat from Australia to europe or the US via
consolidated container. I expect it would be less between the
US and europe.

Don,
Keep the boat! Just pospone any more building for a while till things
blow over (one way or the other).

How much would it be sending it to Barcelona, Spain? Maybe in a 20'
container? I know it's a crazy idea, just wondering... Last monday I
came back from Egypt (couldn't say no to a wonderful offer) and I
think the Micro would be perfect to sail the Mediterranean and the
Nile. Day & Night dreaming...

Then that would put it around Afton, or about
4 miles from here.

If it does go up for sale, I would like to have a
look at it, although with an AF4 in the driveway, and a
partially completed AF3 in the garage, the last thing
I really need is another boat.

And for all the other potential Micro buyers, we're
talking about the South-side of St. Louis, Missouri.

Pretty darn near, Max. Actually...a lil further South 'bout 3 miles,
in my mom's backyard.

Stretching my memory here, but is that near
Carondolet Park?

Max
Don,

I gotta agree, having been in similar situations twice now. Chances are
that you'll end up divorced anyway - or at least both of you will continue
to make the other miserable.

Seriously, it is important to talk this over with your wife. Is the boat
really the issue? Listen to her and try not to be defensive. Then, tell
her your side. There may be a middle ground somewhere you can both live
with and be reasonably happy.

Sorry, forgot the actual advice!

Advertise in Messing About in Boats. It's about the only place where
more than a tenth of one percent of readers will know or care what a
Micro is. When I advertised my Cynthia J there, I got 5-10 responses
from all over the country.

Ya gotta do what ya gotta do. But it's hard for me to imagine that
the boat business is a cause and not a symptom. I fear that selling
the boat will not bring domestic tranquility.

I know that is easy to get carried away by a hobby, and that we need
to spent time and energy to our loved ones too. But sometimes getting
rid of your hobby will be a cause of dispute at home.
This is a example :

It's a dificult decision.

Sorry to hear that.

Since a boat is a hard thing to ship and this group has worldwide coverage,
letting us know where it is would be a good start.
