Re: [bolger] Re: Plywood Deisel Cruiser.
Again citing PB&F:
Plans of the plywood diesel cruiser, our Design #574, are available
for US$200 to build one boat; air mail ppd. rolled in a tube.
The tube is a lovely touch. I've bought plans from a few other
sources, and the folded drawings irritate me no end.

Sakari,
Yes, that is the one. Doesn't seem like it would be all that much
harder than an instant style boat. I guess building upside down on a
jig woud be the way to go. Rolling her would be the real task. If
built right side up, planking seems like it would be an even greater
task. I'll take another look at it after I finish the AF4. I may have
more courage by then (and maybe a place to build her). Thanks for the
info. Did Bolger mention the price of the plans?

Yes, that is the one. Doesn't seem like it would be all that much
harder than an instant style boat. I guess building upside down on a
jig woud be the way to go. Rolling her would be the real task. If
built right side up, planking seems like it would be an even greater
task. I'll take another look at it after I finish the AF4. I may have
more courage by then (and maybe a place to build her). Thanks for the
info. Did Bolger mention the price of the plans?

Rich,
you mean the 23'6" Plywood Diesel Cruiser, BwaOM Chapter 56?
I wrote to PB&F about it in July 2000; here's what they had to
say, verbatim:
"This boat is not especially difficult to build, but does have
to be built by traditional boatbuilding methods; lofted full-
size, frame plumbed, and planking patterns made from the
erected frame. There are no prefabrication expansions."
I decided against it. I never liked the house, anyway.

I decided against it. I never liked the house, anyway.

I've been looking at the 23' Plywood Cruiser again and again. I am
going to build the AF4 next but.....well this boat looks do-able by a
back yard builder. Anyone out there have any experiance with it?
