Yes, NiCads should be used 'till very low, but not 'till flat. There
is some sort of reverse polarity thing that can happen and ruin it.

No myth. Follow the instructions explicitly. I used to charge my
work's Nextel phone at about 6:00 pm, right when I got home from
work. Then after about 6 months I decided to see how long it would
last without recharging. Yep, it would never last much past 6:00.
Then when the battery started to go, it would crap out at 5:00, then
4:00. Absolutely useless.
The new one I let go until it's last gasp. It would go for about 5
days, now down to about 3 1/2 days.
Same thing with my electric toothbrush. The dental hygenists leave it
plugged in all the time, and it doesn't last much past 5 minutes of
use. The dentist and I, get about a week out of it.
Other batteries, such as lead acid need to be kept charged all the
time. So make sure to follow directions. I've ruined those as well.

Chuck,
The cordless drill battery is probably a NiCad which SHOULD be
run flat before charging. The battery in my last spot light was a
sealed 6v lead acid battery, which should be kept as fully
charged as possible and not allowed to run flat.

I don't know, I read the instructions, after it stopped working.
Said "don't leave on till dead!"
I leave the other one plugged into the 110v adapter all the time, it
seems to work fine everytime I need it.

James:
I got the 1,000,000 candlepower version. It's product # 42417.
Richard:
What about charging? Should one charge the light before it runs down, then? Is it the same type battery as a cordless drill? They say to not charge before they run down - some kind of memory thing - or is that a myth.

I bought two when I saw these at WM.
When the instructions say "don't leave it on and let the batt run
down" they mean it. Only one of them functions now.
