Re: [bolger] "Small Boats" by Phil Bolger - Anybody have a copy ?
Ron,
Others have provided information about the designs. The book "Bolger Boats"
combines two previous Bolger books: "Small Boats" and "The Folding Schooner".

For those who wonder:
Mippet = 9'6" Amesbury Skiff, design #260. 4 strake ply construction
Defender = 11' lapstrake rowing boat and yacht tender. Somewhat like
a Herreshoff Coquina model, I think. Design # 236.
Hope = 16' Outboard skiff of strip construction. An ancestor of
Shivaree. Design # 258.
Archaeopteryx = 15'6". The main hull is a square-bowed sharpie or
sail board (like a not-smoothed and not-rounded Fireball), and the
rig is bermuda sloop. However, the unusual feature is cantelevered
wing seats. Design # 202

Hello Ron: I have a copy and would be happy to mail you photocopies
of the pertinent pages. (DEFENDER's a lovely boat, but I don't
recall HOPE.) Drop me a line off-list with your mailing address. --

Group,
Speaking of books, I have a favor to ask.
About 2 years ago, and probably on this list, there was mention of the
another 'design book' by Phil - "Small Boats". Someone mentioned they
had a copy. {A used book search shows ONE copy available . . . $60.oo}
Further discussion on that thread, and a couple of other subsequent
comments from various sources, indicated 3 boats of specific interest to
me {for my wife}; MIPPET, DEFENDER, and HOPE.
I've contacted Mr. Bolger about Mippet {for my specific purposes he
recommended Cartopper as a better option}. It was some time after this
that the other two 'came up'.
Before I write to him again, I was hopeful that someone on the list
could help. What I simply need is a copy of the sketches / text / and
any photographs. I am presuming that each design only has a page or so
of information. Any more and I would be happy to pay for copying and
mailing costs. I could then get Joanne to select which she would like,
and contact Mr. Bolger about plan availability.
Regards and Thanks,
