Hi Bjorn (is it you?) - yes, I considered the Navigator but the
doghouse is a real doghouse... Just kidding, but the Navigator upgrade
shrinks the cockpit too much, and the overall look is not exactly
inspiring... I find the Navigator rig interesting though, and might
think about that. I'm about to order the plywood... 11 sheets of 5'x10'
9 mm okoume. Best, Pippo
Congratulations Pippo!
Have you considered Micro Navigator "Upgrade"?

Dear all - I terminated the poll (3 votes for Micro and 1 - off line -
for Chebacco) because I finally decided to build the Micro. I will set
up a Web page on my Micro shortly, but let me anticipate why I decided
so. Maybe some of you have read my article in Chebacco News #26 to
assess the seaworthiness on the 20' sheet ply version. Well, I did the
same computations on the Micro using the great free hull design program
Hullform 6S, and Micro came out with an incredible number: his Dynamic
Stability Factor came out to be 44 (triple checked), placing the boat
in the ocean qualified category! I assumed that the center of gravity
lies on the waterline plane, which seems reasonable to me. Anyhow, even
lifting significantly the center of gravity, Micro remain steadily in
the offshore qualified category! Theoretically, Micro is self righting
down to 135 degrees of heel (not considering the effect of mast and
sails into the water). As a comparison, Chebacco's DSF is about 10
(inshore category)I'll put all those speculations on line soon. I plan
to use 8 or 9 mm marine okoume, 5 plies, with double thickness bottom.
Best, Pippo
