Re: A new shoe
On "Jack of Hearts", my Micro, I looked around for a year for what I
thought would be something to act as the "shoe" under the bottom of the
Micro keel ( 2.25" wide since I was using 3/8" plywood). One day,
wondering around Home Depot, I spotted a vinyl downspout, the thingy
that takes the water from the gutters on your house to the ground. Sure
enouph, exactly 2.25" across on the inside. I bought one (something
like $3) took it home, ripped it to about a 3/4" deep "U channel", and
glued it on with 5200. Worked great. No long term testing yet (boat
just hit the water for the first time last weekend), but it was cheap,
and the stuff seemed like it would be durable when backed up with the
keel and 5200.
