"Having to worry about service" and "relying on the dealer" are
two different things, at least after the warranty period expires....

P.S. For those of you who might go to the Champlain Messabout, that
dealer was Tudhope Marine in North Hero, right on the water. I don't
know if they're still like that or even if they are still there.

P.P.S. Speaking of messabouts, do we have dates for the proposed
Gloucester and also Champlain messabouts? Place to look to keep
track? Had a pretty good time last year.

Good point. Boat net people are offering a "March special", an extended warrantee but I don't know
how one would utilize it. I'd probably drive to where ever they are, but would definetly not let wife
know about it. Clyde

Have outboards become so much more reliable than they used to be that
you don't have to worry about service? Back in the 70s my dad bought
one, and it crapped out. The dealer replaced it. That one crapped out.
They replaced it, and this time it lasted. That's how he got up to
115hp and then 125hp while only paying for 85! (Same physical size.)
Very funny when skier said to use max throttle for dock start. Skis
stayed on dock.

I have gotten a quote from them and talked to them at length. Very
reasonable pricing and easy to deal with. They also have received
good reviews from the crowd on the www.walleyecentral.com message
boards.

They don't appear to sell them online.

Don't forget Bass Pro Shops. I just bought a 15HP four-stroke Mercury
from them last weekend. They were clearly the most competitive in my
area.

Both www.online-outboards.com and www.marine-outboards.com have
delivered quotes for my new outboard. They are $17 appart, for
identical outboards.

Decisions, decisions, decisions. I like both of them!

(BTW, the other candidates for online outboard purchase, Cabellas,
and BoatersWorld, are hundreds more)
