[bolger] gutambo ply

"When in doubt, leave it out!"

I made the mistake of using exterior grade Luan ply for an instant boat
once. The lumber yard I got it from (a cousin of my wife's) insisted
that it was great for the purpose at hand. I discoved how badly the
1/2" ply delaminated in the middle of a large lake at 15mph. The 1/4"
ply held up find in other boats. The floor was flexing so badly that I
thought I had met my final days as a boater. Fortunatly, the epoxy
covered cloth on the outside held all the way to the landing. I have
had not the same problems with AC ext, but have decided that I will
stick to marine grade ply due to the resale problems that I have
encountered in the past.
