Got an excellant start on the trailer for the Wyo today. Another
day of cutting and welding and it'll be ready for paint. Basically
it's a 20' heavy duty trailer using tandem 6,000 lb axles. Frame is
stacked 6" channel. Tonight it's sitting in the driveway with the
frame almost complete and the axles mounted and aligned.

Total length of the trailer is 26' with the tongue. I'll have a
bolt on attachment to extend the rear section another 5' which
should support the Wyo out to about 46' leaving the back 5' hanging
over. The tongue will have a 20' extention built like a truss.

Anyway, with the comments on how much to build a boat, I'd like to
add my untold hours of calculating, etc.

The Wyo. is much larger by far than anything I've built so far but
I'm confindent that she can be built for 20K. The bids for the
structural lumber and glass are in and accepted at a total of $4800.
I know that the engine will be $6350 shipped from FL to CO and that
includes 2 props and remote controls for 35 feet. Using the West
Marine Catalog (high end prices) I come up with another $2100 for
the fuel, water and waste tanks, sinks, fixtures, etc. $600 for
batteries. $800 for the generator.

The rest is for epoxy, glass, etc. I already own the head, one
sink, all the electrical including radios and stereo, windlass,
anchors, chain, rode, cleats, tie downs, etc.

With what I already have, I hope to only invest $17,000 or less to
get the Wyo. floating.

The itemized list is huge and hopefully complete. I figure I still
have 20% over run budget.

Anyone that goes into a project like this without expecting over
runs is crazy. But, as in any planned project they can be
controlled and possibly eliminated. (Scrounge Factor)

Can the Wyo be built for $2.00 per lb. displacement. Yes, I believe
so and cheaper to one willing to shop the RV catalogs and stores, if
it says "Marine" it'll cost double for the same thing.

Can I afford an additional 20% overrun above my current 20%? Sure
but I certainly don't want to spend it. It would start digging into
the crusing budget.
