I share your concerns but one must consider one thing. If we boycot
these products the poor individuals working in those countries become
unemployed and poorer. I'm not saying this is a good situation but we
should have a look at these conditions and try to come up with an
alternative way to deal with this problem; a way that strikes directly
at the company with out harming the employees.

Hi everyone

Have been folowing a lot of the posts lately and don't often see fit
to comment.But the question about the possibility of having a boat
built by third world labour caught my particular attention.
While I would not like to see anyone miss out on a good opportunity
for a below normal cost boat.
I can't help but wonder if this isn't a little like using sweatshop
labour. using very unsafe (by our standards ) work shop practices and
even child labour. I recall seeing a picture in Wooden Boat magazine
of one such scene.The picture showed the boatyard workers machining
planking stock.
You had one guy pulling the plank another pushing,another standing on
the plank directly over the blade holding it down,and the youngest of
all was reaching into the machine to clear away the cuttings as there
was no extraction.

This may not be the case here but be nice to think not.



Back on the lighter side of things I have made a bit more progress on
my Long Micro.
