foldingschoonerin Oz update

Firstly , I've just seen the drawing of ISO60 and can only say
Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh.
Good luck with the building, enjoy, and BE PROUD TO SCROUNGE.
Meanwhile the inside of the schooner has been painted but no funds
for the outside paint and polytarpfor sailsyet.
I've started on Oars. Built a 10' from a beam of Douglas fir that
wasoff a verandahon a shop circa 1903. Signage read DELLABOSCAS
Quality......... Rest was missing. Wood was 10'6"x12x2 1/2' with
absolutely no knots!. Got a solid oar and 2 full lenght3/4" thick
strips from it .Ihad to dodge alot of big boltholes! I've a 4" offcut
left over for wheh I've a supply of epoxy again.
The second oarwas laminated with a baltic pine floorboardin the
centre andthe 2 D G stips on the side and came out at 9'6".
Both 16 sided and carved the handles with my antique drawknife. what
fun and joy.
Itching for a floatigsession but willhave to be satisfied with a
couple of days in the june bug.
Meanwhile its back to the drawing board on my 8' insert betwween the
hulls of the schooner to incorporate a "birdwatcher cabin"
as 30' seems to be the trendy lenght.
Cheers all Paul
