Re: [bolger] What irony! What pathos!
Right, but some of his ideas are a little etherial..

I got the April 1 MAIB yesterday. There is picture of a Bolger-
designed, Edy & Duff-built Dovkie on the cover. Now, y'all remember
how PCB designed the Dovkie to test the idea that a small cruiser
could get by with oar auxillary. And for which Peter Duff eventually
designed a small motor bracket so oar-phobic people could slide along
with a 2hp engine.
Well, the boat on the MAIB cover is clearly sporting an outboard in
the 10hp range and skipping along under power with froth under the
bow. It must be really tough for Bolger to send his ideas out into
the ether and have them distorted all the time. (sigh) He has
remarked about Birdwatcher (designed as a homebuild Dovkie) that the
idea of oar auxillary is harder for people to accept than the idea of
an all-indoor boat.
Still, it's the most overpowered sailboat I've seen since I saw a
35hp ob on a 17' Hurley.
