[bolger] Re: Gulp! Weekender & Micro Sail Area

Mark, thanks for your kind words. The ply on mine is; Bottom - two
layers of 1/4" marine. All else, single 1/4" marine ply. The deck frames
were cut from some old wooden organ pipes. It is some kind of fruit
wood, perfectly clear and light as a feather.
I hope to add some newer pics on the site, during the coming week to
get it up to date, so stay tuned.

Sorry if this shows up twice, but I posted it previously and it doesn't seem to have gone through.  I've rejoined and hopefully everything is working again.

Stan Muller,
Thank you for the thoughts on your similar dilemma between the Weekender and Micro. I was leaning the same way as you before, for similar reasons.  I think I know which way I'll be going now. Additionally, it sounds like a great trip that you have planned, and I've taken a look at your website - looks like a stout little boat.  I would think the extra ribs you've added would be lighter than the heavier ply that some people have gone with for the decking.  Or are you planning on the heavier ply as well?

Peter Lenihan,
I see from your postings that you live near Montreal.  Is there any chance that I'd be able to see your boat next summer?  I live in Indonesia, but we make it back to the Ottawa/Montreal region every year to visit family and friends.  I'd like to see a completed Micro before I get too much farther.

On this note.  Are there any Micro owners following this group from Western Australia who would be willing to show off their boats?  I make it down to Perth once or twice a year and would would be interested in seeing any boats in that area. (I'll buy the Toohey's Red or Matilda Bay)

All of this is assuming that there isn't a Micro here in Indonesia that I don't know about.  Anyone is this group hiding one here in Jakarta??

Regards,
Mark Oliver
