best tools for Micro mast step!

I just finished the main mast step today for "Firefly". The mast fid
shelf and the fid itself were a little tricky, but with the aid of my
favorite tools the work progressed smoothly.

1. Use a small toothed Japanese hand saw to cut 1" lines to the
required depth (actually just a little shy of it is best).

2. Use a 1" wood chisel. A sharp one, please. and voila a perfect
hole to match the mast.

3. Then use the flat wood rasp to even the whole mess out.

The process took no more than 20 minutes total.

Now to sand, fill, and seal the wood prior to painting.

The mizzen is next! :-)
