Two remarks:
- Meranti is the same as Lauan!
- Partly due to its success, lots of other stuff is sold as meranti.
Therefore it's very difficult to generalize. The good stuff is very good,
as good as American Mahogany, the bad stuff ..
In general, the heavier the meranti, the better.
Ofcourse, in plywood, the glue is as (more) important.
