re centerboard, black skimmer

I owned until recently the original Skillygalee with an off-
centerboard. The whole time I had it I thought what a better boat it
would be with lee-boards. It is a great boat but with the off-
centerboard and trunk I would consider it a daysailer, if it had
leeboards it would make a great cruiser. The floor to ceiling trunk
made the cabin close and confining with no room for any built in
galley or storage. The space on the other side of the trunk was only
usable for storage. Removing the trunk would make a comparatively
luxurious space. I owned a Chapelle scow sloop with leeboards and
liked them very much. Also the case leaks, an almost inevitable
condition with centerboards. I say forget the centerboard, go with
the leeboards.
