Re: Sneakeasy Launch Day
Thanks Paul
It's good to know someone on the group is from the Portland area!
Perhaps we can connect out in the bay sometime!

What a nice looking boat! I wish I had seen you out there on the
harbor - I was slaving away inside on my own boat over at Portland
Yacht Services. I hope you enjoy Katie.
All the best,

Steve,
Congratulations!!! Your boat is a beauty!!!
About your outboard, if it coughs and dies it could be that the idle
mix is too lean at idle. Outboard carbs do not have an accelerator
pump and if the idle mixture is too lean they will not accelerate.
Try opening(richening) the idle mixture knob a small amount.
Hope this helps,
Larry

Thanks Tom,
I was very pleased with the handling. When I first put her in the
water and went across the harbor her bow seemed to plow a little. I
needed to set the tilt on the motor with the propeller in the aft
most position and it made all the difference. The transom on the
Sneakeasy is at quite an angle. Other than that she makes no wake to
speak of, it seemed to be 2 or 3 inches high. It left me with a
dilema in that the inner harbor is a "No Wake" zone. I was doing 12
knots but making no appreciable wake!! What is a guy to do??? Slow
Down???? I just couldn't!!! She was very smooth even crossing wakes
of other boats, just as PCB said she is so long that she traverses
waves and hits the next one before she slams down. I poked along at
6 or 8 knots and she was very smooth. She accelerates smoothly and
seems to plane immediately!! I was very pleased. The only minor
problem was when I opened the throttle wide open she choked, coughed,
and stalled! I assume that it is a carbuerator(sp) adjustment but I
don't know for sure. Any outboard mechanics out there with an
answer? Max maybe? She corners quite nicely. I was concerned based
on what I have read of this type that she might slide in tight turns
but I didn't find that so. I slowed done and made a 360 maximum turn
and she turned in about 75 feet or so. I thought that was great!
All in all I am thrilled with her and look forward to many days of
fun!
