Ask sign makers, if they use it and where they get it. Clyde

Signs in Australia are usually made of steel, plastic or aluminium.
Roadsigns are almost always aluminium.

I have never seen anything that looks like MDO.

Find a company that makes signs, ask them where they get their paper
covered plywood.

Its primary use in the US is for signs and for reusable concrete forms.
Check out those who do that kind of work and see what they use.

It is the kind of ply they use for highway signs.
Presumably you have those, and they are made of ply,
though smaller ones here are made of metal
(surprisingly nice Al stock for light rudders etc...).
So check your Hwy signs, and signs in general, and
ask those people what they use. MDO is the US name,
but I have gotten blank stares here in Canada
regarding "MDO" (though it is probably made here).

My local plywood suplier has Rotary luan at some of
the following prices, they sell more stuff than this:

They have exterior grade 1/4" at $13-15 Canadian
(about $8 US). They also have full 5 ply 1088 for $75
(50 US). They have 10 foot, and various other
products. These aren't doorskins, they are nicer than
that, all solid, and no voids.

3/8 is $27 (18 US)

1/2 5 ply is $35.25 (23). Half inch marine 1088 is 3
times that price.

They also sell interior grade, but the savings are
minimal compared to the exterior, so I would stick
with this stuff even if sheathing it.

My point is you can get totaly perfect water proof
sheets for about what HD charges for their D Fir.

If this makes you feel you should run out and buy MBO,
go for it. I would rather track down some good luan.

This stuff mostly comes from asia, so I have a hard
time believing you can't get something like it in
NZ/OZ also.
