dinghy painter versus bridle?

Hi All,

I'm just finishing up a Bolgeresque dinghy, essentially a Tortoise
with plumb ends, made from 1/8" Okume ply for lightness. It is to go
on the deck of my AS29, which I intend to sail from Florida to Maine
and/or Lake Champlain, NY, beginning in a week or so.

Due to the light construction, attaching a painter in the spot Bolger
usually uses looks problematical, even if one adds a backing block;
bending loads must be taken up through the light framing, the 1/8"
ply not contributing much. So I have been thinking of using a bridle,
from two points near the well-reinforced outer edges of the bow
transom, attached to a single line ?? feet away (I've also thought
this would make for simpler lashing to the AS29 deck).

Does this seem like a workable solution? Any better suggestions?

Many thanks,
John Dalziel
