Re: Diablo Launched

In an experiment done two summers ago, we matched my 10hp 2 cycle
Johnson against a 10 hp 4 stroke honda on my Diablo.

The Johnson planed the boat easily with two aboard, the Honda
struggled. I suspect that it was the weight of the engine with the
propellor combination. I will measure the pitch of the blade on the
Johnson and report back to the group. It makes a huge difference on
these small boats.

I have been WAY out of touch email-wise, but my friend Bob Vickery launched
his 17-foot Diablo last Wed. He had all three props for the Yamaha 15 hp
4-stroke.

Best performance was with the greatest pitch (9x10 1/2? - I know it was in
the 10's). 25 mph solo, 21.8 mph two up.

I'll try to get some pix posted to the web next week. Bob's workmanship is
exemplary...

John, your AF4 might like the higher pitch if top speed is your thing.
