The Helen P. Foster under sail
Went down to the boatyard this morning before going to church and
found the building open. Went in rigged up the sail and mast, dollied
the boat down to the water and went for a sail. What fun! She behaves
very nicely - the initial tenderness goes away as the lee bilge
panels gets in the water. I sailed across the bay to Peaks Island,
had lunch and then sailed back to Portland Harbor. The wind picked up
as I got into the harbor and I sailed a couple of tacks over to South
Portland and back - had the rail in the water a couple of times. This
is a great boat - many thanks to Phil Bolger and Harold Payson. Never
did make it to church, but certainly had a spiritual experience, none
the less.
Cheers,
Paul
