Re: Photo of the Helen P. Foster

Paul --

Sorry I missed the initial post about your first sail -- I've been so
busy lately I can't even read the Bolger Group most days -- what a
sad state of affairs!

Anyway, your sail sounds excellent, and the boat does, too. Just
hearing you invoke those Casco Bay names gets me all worked up -- I
wish I could be out there sailing right now, even in the driving rain.

Well, post more pix of your boat when you can. I'm very interested in
your modifications. I may try decking my Gypsy the way you did. It
would certainly solve the only problem I think the boat has -- those
waves lapping too easily into the boat when heeled.

All best,
Garth

The bulkhead at the rear of the cockpit is water-tight and I
installed a watertight bulkhead just forward of the mast step and
partner so she has lots of flotation.

She's a ravishing beauty! Congratulations. And this is your first
boat?!

So it looks like you decked her all around, but didn't make flotation
compartments. Will you put foam blocks under the decking?

Please post more pix as you get them, and report extensively on your

All best,

I just posted a picture of my Gypsy, the Helen P. Foster under Paul
Thober's boats.
