Re: transport ideas/clarification

Hi Harry,

No, not Puget Sound. It means that I'm trying to see if I can get the
Tennessee to Petersburg, AK. Idea is to either run up from Prince
Rupert or put it on the ferry at Prince Rupert. Of course, you'd be
welcome to come down to Petersburg.

Does this mean your Buds from Juneau are going to have a boat to use on
Puget Sound this summer?
Provided a solution is found of course.

Seth,

So if the move is permanent, and if you can supply the tow vehicle, then find someone with
a free week who'll do the job for $500, expenses, and a plane ticket home.

Yes and no. Temporary in the sense that it is for about 3 months but
the point is not to rent a boat. I mean, of course renting might be the
practical thing to do (although I'm not sure a 3 month rental would be
cost effective), but this isn't necessarily about being practical.
(Which is why I sent the post to this list. . .).

Uh, Mark. . . Yes, I guess you are WAY outside "my box". Can you
elaborate on exactly what it is you are suggesting I rent?

Thanks,

inside or outside of my box)

Seth,
This may be outside your box, but if you can present yourself as competent, it's easy
enough to rent one.

OK you creative minds, I'm seeking options for transporting a 30'
Bolger boat (with or without trailer, boat and trailer less than 2000
lbs.) from the east coast of the US (between NY and Boston) to the west
coast--Seattle, WA or Vancouver, BC. I'd tow it myself but I have to be
off doing other things during the window of time I have when I have to
have the boat on the west coast. The conventional "boat moving firms"
charge more than the value of the boat (and new trailer) so I'm just
wondering if there are other options. Anyone know about freight rates
and rules on the Canadian railways?

This may be a lark but thought it might provide some grist for the
Bolger groups mill. Private posts to me atsmacinko@...are
fine too.
