RE: [bolger]

The best replaceable blade saws I have ever bought
came from Toshiro's in Seattle, though that was a
while ago, but I think he still has them. I don't
recall if he had plywood blades, a number of folks
sell them. Even HD has the shark brand which is OK
for a hacking about saw. Check out Japane woodworker,
or the Lee Valley catalogue (they used to have plywood
saws, that with the set lowered were pretty nice all
around hackers).

I have a bunch of these saws, but they aren't as fast
for plywood as power saws, if they are, you aren't
moving as fast as you might be.

Yes, buy one that is Japanese! Mine is a "Silkey" brand, a company
which now seems to be out of business [or doesn't come up on
Google]. These saws can be hard to find I guess. I buy my saws at:

Hida Tools & Hardware, Inc.
1333 San Pablo Ave. Berkeley, CA 94702
1-800-443-5512(telephone) 1-888-284-7473(fax)

The #05 SAW model at the bottom of this webpage seems just about
right to me. IE Straight handle, no back stiffener, medium tooth
spacing.

I have never been able to control slivering while cutting luan with
either a skilsaw or a jig saw, but using a fine tooth Japanese pull
saw works great and is just as quick as using a power tool.
