RE: [bolger]
Agreed! I rebuilt the whole second floor of my house with a Sears radial
arm saw, am now using a small Sears table saw, etc, etc. Also have a gift
certificate to Sears so may get a Japanese pull saw.

Oh dear...my poor Micro "Firefly" has now been declared of
questionable pedigree. I have used a Sears Industrial Model Circular
Saw for 90% of the building. I am very happy with it. I know that
the router I bought was inferior, but I only use it sparingly. I
think I did most of the rounding off and shaping using a block plane
and rasp.
A good wood rasp is worth its weight in gold. This is one place I
don't skimp, hand tools... Most of mine came from my grandfather,
and I plan to hand my current set to my grandchildren. Thus giving
the gift of woodworking (boatbuilding?) to a new generation of
builders.
Happy Building.
