I missed the original post, so I may have missed the mark with this reply...
but, if the chines are glass taped and epoxied, then the chine logs are
really just a convenience for assembly. So, if rot is the problem, just
chisel our *all* the rot and glass over what's left. Unless you're going
offshore :-) you won't miss the wood.
