Re: Micro Surgery

Thanx David, Thomas and all re. suggestions for dealing with questionable
chine logs. Think I'll grind them all down so a true assessment can be made
of their condition. I like the idea of taking them down enough so they're
flush with butt plates, and therefore the new plywood, which will then allow
for the fillet and 4" tape chine loge replacement consistantly all round.
And , good lord, David, I know what you mean about working inside the
equivance of a giant mandolin. I go in armed with blaster grade ear covers,
goggles and resporator. The enclosed space also does a good job of
simulating being lost in a sandstorm on the Sahara when the grinder's going.
That's why my hair stands on end when I think of crawling in there with a
mason's saw on the grinder. Think I'll stick to low tech, heck, I've got all
next winter to work on it. Again, thanx and fair winds to all. I'm off on a
kayak camping trip for the next couple of days.

jeb, grateful for what hearing I have left, and the laughter of the gulls on
the shores of Fundy
