Re: [bolger] Digest Number 1036 - Bottom Paint {YES or NO}
Todd,
Here's your life preserver.
IF you are going to 'dry sail' and be in the water no more than 72 hours
at a time;
1) Paint it with whatever you like, have on hand, or is easiest (a nice
100% acrylic seems to be the current choice)
2) Let it dry . . . HARD !! {at least 14 DAYS per the chem techs}
3) WAX the bottom; then buff & WAX it and buff it again. (There is a
special Bottom Wax for about $20.00 but I've had good luck with West
Marine's housebrand 'wax with TEFLON' preparation.
4) ENJOY your time on the water
5) Upon recovery, hose off the bottom well, maybe a LITTLE BIT of MILD
liquid soap applied with one of those 'Schawalla' mops if it's a bit
scummy.
The hose off at recovery should keep the trailer in good condition, and
let you inspect the bottom to see if you need to wax again, or apply
another preparation.
