Klondike

Yo Bolgeristas

An older approach to instant boats. The informally organized Juneau Boat
builders were contacted by a Canadian film company to build a replica of
a boat like the ones built at Lake Bennet right across the Chilkoot pass
that the gold seekers used to float down to Dawson from Bennet. These
were built out of whipsawed green lumber and nails and were of
incredible variety.

Fritz has done a fine job as chronicler on his site at

You can also reach it from the Klondike link at his primary home page at

Fritz had to move a lot of his web site to a server at his house when
his ISP discovered that he was about 25 megs over his allotted 5 for his
web site.

I just had the planking wood delivered and it is authentically green. It
is so wet that it raised the humidity noticeably in the shop.

One of the oft repeated comments of the crew is "I never had to
deliberately do less than the best I can before" The contract guarantees
the boat will leak.
