Re: Perplexed by Yamaha

My local Yamaha dealer (salesman) told me they wouldn't guarantee their
motor unless they installed it.

I don't know about Yamaha OB's but every, no exaggeration, every
Yamaha product that I have owned, and there have been a few, has
been downright excellent, from motorcycles to guitars to pianos.

Hello,
is anyone familiar with Yamaha's outboards, especially their
connection with the remote control? The cable of my remote-
control unit (it came with the engine) has a round multipin
connector at the engine end, but I cannot find a corresponding
connector on the engine. There is a black hole that looks
really promising, but it's rectangular and too small for the
round connector.

I asked my dealer for an installation manual; he said there
isn't one, that their people learn things from courses, not
from books. The owners's manual says simply that if one does
not know how to install the engine, then one should seek
professional help. Huh? What can be so difficult about it?

On second thoughts - OK - fitting a round connector into a
rectangular too-small hole *is* difficult...
