Re: Firefly goes!

David,
Congratulations on your launch! She looks like a beaut from what
I've seen on your website. I have learned a lot from your building
exploits/photos/questions, they have helped my (slow) project along.
Looking forward to some sailing shots in the near future.

Regards

Col Mooney

Dear Group,
Firefly left her cocoon for her maiden voyage yesterday. A very
breezy day on Lake Cochituate. I am happy to report that there is
ample room for a family of four, and that she motors fine upwind and
downwind. With a nervous 7 and 11 year old, I left the sails off and
just motored around in search of the best swimming hole.
She came off and on the trailer with little difficulty, actually
a lot easier than Diablo due to the 60" vertical posts on the trailer
that centered the boat even with a cross breeze.
Stepping the spars and rigging took close to 40 minutes. With
practice, I can get it down to 30 for sure.
She floats perfectly on her lines as designed.

Happy sailing,
David Jost
