Parting Lines and Cables
I have to agree with David in regard to his mention of parting
cables. As a 6 year Navy Veteran, the stories of death and
disfigurement by parting cables under stress is a cautionary tale for
deckhands. One need only think of the way aircraft are launched off
of carriers, of course this is a "controlled realease of stress" but
the physics apply to ships on a mooring or any line that is tightened
to its breaking point.
