...anyway, Skagen is not scary at all...

Probably not, just looks scary on the map compared to the sheltered bay at the head of the Oslo Fjord. That limited perspective bears an uncanny rersemblance to Cape Split, between the Bay of Fundy and Minas Basin, a land formation notorious for eating vessels in the days of wooden ships and iron men. Obviously the scale is different and Skagen no doubt has a harbor which doesn't show up on the map I was looking at (World Atlas).

...The problem and the scary part of the business is to get there - spelled Skagerak. I have only crossed Skagerak in huge ferries. But Skagerak is well known for its steep waves! When I wrote PCB&F a year ago asking for advice choosing a suitable design... recommended the WDJ...

Nearly identical to how I came by WDJ plans. Fundy, though obviously a much smaller body of water than Skagerak, is a great generator of high, steep waves, thanx to wicked tidal movement against prevailing wind (esp. S.W.). Being the more pro-active boat builder, you will be testing the theory long before I will. I Iook forward to your reports.

... still cannot bring my wife and all four kids on a cruise to Skagerak - but someone's got to take care of the filming on shore...

My wife and I also have four children. But they're mostly grown and 50% gone. I anticipate only rare cruises with all six of us on board. My land lubber youngest daughter will gladly volunteer for shore camera duty.

Er...perhabs this anouncement was a bit premature... You wont see the photografic documentation of that particular trip this year, that is.
Anyway, Skagen is not scary at all. Skagen is a small fishing town on the northermost point of Denmark - most of all famous of being the place where many of the greatest Scandinavian artists gathered in the summers abt 100 years ago. The problem and the scary part of the business is to get there - spelled Skagerak. I have only crossed Skagerak in huge ferries. But Skagerak is well known for its steep waves! Nevertheless - sailing to Skagen from the eastern coast of Sweden and the southeastern coast of Norway is a must. When I wrote PCB&F a year ago asking for advice choosing a suitable design (by that time I had Micro, Long Micro and MJ in mind) I specifically mentioned this trip as a possible goal. They were all too small for my purpose and PCB&F recommended the WDJ. I still cannot bring my wife and all four kids on a cruise to Skagerak - but someone's got to take care of the filming on shore...
