Re: Check this out,Micrologists :-)
Hi Bruce,
Didn't mean to suggest or even hint that such pollution may find
its roots amongst the fair citizens of Kingston Town.Perish the
thought!!
I can spare you the traffic woes of going through Montreal by
telling you that I am located in the town of St.Catherine hard by the
St.Lawrence Seaway just off route 132. That would mean taking highway
20 through the western end of the island, then following indications
for the Pont Mercier Bridge.Once on the bridge, keep left....
Bruce, write to me off list and I will give you the directions. No
need to bore the whole group with this.
But yes,you are welcome to drop by and see an"about ready to turn
over" WINDERMERE bottom.
Sincerely,
Peter Lenihan, resting his tired bones at work.....near the shores of
the sparkling St.Lawrence.......

Gee Peter, I know you're downstream from me, but surely I'm not THAT
foul of an influence. Seriously though, where are you building? I may
drive up in the cool of a Monday morn and ask "Whatcha' doin'" too,
if I knew the correct couse to steer through the Montreal maze.

Well,it has finally come to this.......the WINDERMERE boatbuilding
is just taking up way to much time and as much as I hate to admit
this, there just hasn't been any time to even think of launching my
Micro LESTAT.So I've gone and put it on ebay. Those interested may wish
to check her out at:

As for WINDERMERE,she is coming along just fine!!The thrill of
building has me tickled pink and up all night. Thanks to a very
understanding employer,I get to play....ooops....I mean build every
Friday,Saturday,Sunday and Monday!!I get to relax a bit during my
three days at the job and plan my next building session.
I have a few pictures left on a roll before I can post anything to
see but that should be done either tomorrow or next friday.
The bottom is just about done and the bulkheads will be started
soon.
Thankfully, where I am building, happens to be a boat storage area
and is virtually empty throughout the summer season. My nearest
neighbour is building a Bruce Roberts design and is also in the early
stages so we kinda egg each other on by not wasting too much time
chatting. So far, only a few folks have actually stopped by to enquire
about "whatcha buildin' there"? They have all walked away with
puzzeled looks on their faces, especially when I explain the box keel!
I've taken to dragging my model of WINDERMERE along since then......
My neighbour(the steel boat guy) had a bit of a scare the other week
when he looked over and thought I was actually kissing the bottom of
WINDERMERE.Just after my lunch break,he idled over and asked if all
was going well.I replied,"better then expected! Why do you ask?" Then
he tells me about not wanting to appear too indiscrete but that he had
noticed me kissing my boat bottom earlier! For a minute,it was I who
thought perhaps things were not all well in his camp until it occured
to me that earlier,I had been preparing the bottom for a coating of
epoxy and had been bent over blowing out the dust from
hundreds(literally!) of screw holes left over from the
bottom laminating session. From a distance this would almost look like
someone kneeling over and kissing! I re-assured him that what he had
witnessed was just me blowing out the dust from screw holes and not to
worry, the real kissing would come on launch day!
At any rate, this gave us both a chuckle and we went back to work.
The Pesky Crew(or should I now call her"my attorney"?)while no
boatbuilder, has been providing me with absolutley gastronomic delights
to ensure my energy levels remain right up there throughout the day.I
keep complaining to her that the lunch"crate" she packs for me is
going to ruin my poor old back if it gets any heavier!Just
yesterday, she came out to spend the day at the site and she managed to
fill a whole cooler! She even got into a little epoxy work near the
end of the day after reading for most of the morning and
afternoon.She's drivin' me nuts!!
That is it for now.Pictures by next weekend,at the latest!!
Sincerely,
Peter Lenihan, stuffed, pooped and wired silly, from the shores of the
mighty polluted St.Lawrence...........
