Re: Super (NOT Duper) Brick
The regular Brick goes upwind surprisingly well with the Bohndell
sail (a very nice sail). It seemed like it got upwind at least 2/3 as
fast as a couple of gaff cats maybe twice as long. Seems like Super
Brick should do a little better.

Thanks guys for the reminder about the 4 men and dog? I'll just
chock that up to my medication but I guess I am the dummest marble.
As far as my reputation is concerned a Superbrick would only cement
my standings at the local Yacht club as an iconoclast weird person.
After all I sail a catamaran at their races.
Speaking of Yacht club I wonder what my Portsmouth rating would be
for the Superbrick or if it would even point upwind? As far as a
building contest I feel 1 year should be long enough to build a big
square boat, lets not make this too easy for $2,500.

Seriously, do I have to go through Bolger for the plans? Other suggestions?

dumb marble and I can't remember where I read it]. [I was guessing it was
in the old Common Sense Design catalogue.] But looking in Phil Bolger's
book _Boats with an Open Mind_, the exact quote is: "...she'll carry four
men and a big, frightened dog, with plenty of buoyancy left...".
I would be interested in the oyster, I'm looking at as many houseboaty
vessels in the 20-25 ft. range I can find. On the shantyboat page its says
that the plans for SuperBrick are no longer available. I may be off, but I
like it!

Glad someone remembered. This thread was supposed to be distinct from
the Super Brick thread. "Duper" was added to account for the jump in
size to a container ship. Let's not have superlative inflation!
P.S. Someone else was sailing awfully close to that ship. Not sure how
this happened as it had been visible for maybe an hour, not only
that, but the ship is incredibly ugly. But I suppose if one were to
sail the same way that we drive around here... I wonder if his buddy
went UNDER the ship?

In Bolger's chapter on Brick he says Brick will carry 4 men and a scared
dog.
So container ships capacity should be....
It was designed for a young woman to live aboard at college.
The young woman is probably more interesting than the design (of course she
is 50 by now)
It really looks like a Bill Short Pelican with tumble-home topsides above

The young woman is probably more interesting than the design (of course she

It really looks like a Bill Short Pelican with tumble-home topsides above
the sheer.
I will post scans if anyone is curious.
