OT: My other passion...
FBBB --
One of the things that happened to me in the days following 9/11 was
that I began to see notes posted to a couple of the e-mail lists I'm
active on asking if anyone had heard from me. One list is a
profession editors' list, this one amateur boatbuilding list. What
both these lists have in common is a strong feeling of community that
borne of the passion the members of the respective lists have for
their (a)vocations. I could not do my work without my editors' list,
and I would not build boats were it not for this one. It's an odd
feeling, reading notes of concern from people you've never met in
person. But I was deeply touched by the concern, and that feeling was
very much in my mind during the last three months.
For the past three months I've been working on a documentary focusing
on the emotional aftermath of the 9/11 attack on New York City. The
work is now completed, and I'd like to share it with you.
"Sudden Shock" is a documentary focusing on the work clergy,
chaplains, and other faith based care-givers have been doing in and
around New York City since 9/11. We've tried to show not only the
emotional and spiritual toll this ministry takes on these men and
women, but also the renewed hope and invigorated faith that this yet
to be completed journey has brought to them. It's a small film about
a big idea: that love is more powerful than fear.
A 21 meg. quicktime of the film can be seen at:

There's a lot of love on this list, and that love continues to be a
source of inspiration to me.
