Re: a New Boat
Approx 1 oz glass from DefenderUS was quite cheap a year or two ago. A
little tricky to put on but ends up considerably lighter than normal
glass. Probably best to roll up on stick then unroll over flat plywood
sheets to glass before building.

The cloth had an
peel ply, though that was what I was looking for. The Gougeons point
out that in most cases the cloth functions not to increase panel
strength, but to help screed the epoxy, and hold the encapsulation
together. If one could find something that would work and was cheap
I think it would be worth a look for the kind of boats we are talking
about here.

peel ply, though that was what I was looking for. The Gougeons point
out that in most cases the cloth functions not to increase panel
strength, but to help screed the epoxy, and hold the encapsulation
together. If one could find something that would work and was cheap
I think it would be worth a look for the kind of boats we are talking
about here.

cost of the cloth adds up too. Once, years ago, I found a drapery store
selling 'mismatched roll ends' for real cheap @ $1/yard. The cloth had an
open weave and seemed plenty strong too. I plan to try using that next
time.
I just saw a purchase order, here at work, buying 2,600 gallons of epoxy at
$27.00 per gallon.
